Justin Bieber has once again found himself at the center of controversy after sharing a series of Instagram photos on March 3. The images, which show the 31-year-old singer smoking from a bong while posing on a bike, have ignited a heated debate among fans.
“@justinbieber you’re a new father, something you’ve wanted. Set a better example for your son💙,” one fan wrote, referring to his 6-month-old son, Jack Blues, whom he shares with wife Hailey Baldwin Bieber. Another added, “I hope Jack doesn’t have to be around all this smoke. A kid doesn’t deserve it.”
However, others rushed to Bieber’s defense, pointing out that his actions were far from unusual. “Why does it surprise y’all to see a celebrity smoke? 75% of the world does,” one commenter argued. “My parents smoked through my childhood, and I never even knew until I was older. They raised me just fine.” Another fan simply wrote, “I love when you’re just being you.”
The backlash comes just days after Bieber’s team shut down rumors of drug use. On February 25, the singer posted an Instagram video rapping lyrics that included the phrase “fly high.” This fueled speculation, but his representatives were quick to respond.
In a statement first reported by TMZ, Bieber’s team dismissed the rumors as “exhausting” and “pitiful,” insisting he is focused on his health, music, and family. They emphasized that Bieber has undergone a major transformation, cutting ties with friends and business partners who no longer aligned with his current lifestyle.
Despite these claims, public concern over Bieber’s well-being has persisted. In January, photos of him looking exhausted with dark circles under his eyes sparked fresh speculation. TMZ later reported that Bieber had been pulling all-nighters in the studio while also caring for his son, who was struggling to sleep.
While his team denies current drug use, Bieber has previously been open about his past struggles. In a 2021 interview with GQ, he revealed that his drug use had once reached such a dangerous level that security guards would check his pulse at night to ensure he was still alive.
In 2019, he took to Instagram to reflect on his battles with fame and addiction, admitting that by age 19, he had turned to “heavy drugs” to cope with the extreme pressures of stardom.
Now, with a growing family and a renewed focus on his music, Bieber’s team insists he is in a much healthier place. However, his latest post suggests that public scrutiny over his lifestyle is far from over.
