Grammy-nominated R&B singer Angie Stone, renowned for her iconic hits such as “Wish I Didn’t Miss You” and her pivotal role in the hip-hop trio The Sequence, tragically passed away in a car crash on Saturday, March 1, at the age of 63.

Stone was traveling back to Atlanta from Alabama when the vehicle she was in flipped over on Interstate 65 and was struck by a truck. While the other passengers in the van survived, Stone was pronounced dead at the scene, with authorities confirming the incident occurred around 4:25 a.m. just south of Montgomery.

The singer’s passing has left her family, friends, and fans devastated. Her children, Diamond and Michael Archer, expressed their heartbreak in a statement, remembering their mother as a loving and influential figure. “Never in a million years did we expect to receive this horrible news,” they said.

Known for her soulful voice and heartfelt lyrics, Stone made a lasting impact on the music industry, particularly in the neo-soul movement of the early 2000s. Her career spanned over four decades, with notable hits like “No More Rain (In This Cloud)” and “Baby,” and she earned a Grammy nomination for her contributions to R&B and soul music.

Stone’s sudden death also came just hours before she was set to perform at the CIAA men’s Championship basketball game. She was celebrated not only for her music but for her authenticity and ability to inspire through her art and personal journey.

Fans and colleagues alike are mourning the loss of a true icon, and tributes continue to pour in for the legendary artist who touched countless lives with her music.
