Celebrities Mourn the Loss of Legendary Singer Roberta Flack: Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Rowland Lead Tributes

The entertainment world is in mourning following the passing of iconic singer Roberta Flack at the age of 88. The Grammy-winning artist, best known for her timeless hit “Killing Me Softly with His Song,” passed away peacefully on February 24, 2025, surrounded by her family. Flack had been battling amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) since her diagnosis in August 2022.

Celebrities from across the music and entertainment industry have flooded social media with heartfelt tributes, honoring Flack’s unparalleled talent and legacy. Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Rowland, and even John Lennon’s sons, Julian and Sean Ono Lennon, were among the stars who shared their grief and admiration for the legendary singer.

Jennifer Hudson took to X (formerly Twitter) to express her sorrow, posting a photo of Flack with the caption: “So sad to hear of Roberta Flack’s passing. One of the great soul singers of all time. Rest well, Ms. Flack. Your legacy lives on!!!” Hudson’s emotional tribute echoed the sentiments of countless fans and fellow artists.

John Lennon’s sons, Julian and Sean Ono Lennon, also shared their personal connections to Flack. Julian wrote, “Roberta Flack was a neighbor of Dad’s in New York City, and a dear friend of our family. Very sad to hear of her passing. Deepest condolences to all who loved her.” Sean added, “Roberta Flack was a very close family friend and neighbor. She was an incredibly kind woman. Uniquely talented. I am eternally grateful to have known her. I’m heartbroken she had to leave this earth. Will always love you.”

Kelly Rowland, visibly moved by the news, shared her gratitude for Flack’s contributions to music. “Our dear Ms. Roberta Flack has ascended beyond but what beauty she has left us with!! Sarah Jessica Parker penned a heartfelt note on Instagram, reminiscing about Flack’s impact on her life. “Listening to her was blissful. Heart and soul,” she wrote. “We millions and millions loved you. RIP and Godspeed.”
