American singer Raveena is kicking off February with the release of her latest single, Sun Don’t Leave Me, a deeply emotional track inspired by recent environmental tragedies, especially the Los Angeles Wildfires. Raveena shared that the song embodies the feeling of “grief for a simpler time on Earth,” a sentiment she feels strongly due to the rapid decline of the planet’s resources and beauty.
Raveena (singing): “Sun, don’t leave me…”
Reflecting on the California fires, which saw hundreds of homes lost, Raveena said, “I was feeling the intensity of this song more than ever because of the ways the fires in LA were affecting me and my loved ones, as a person in the highest-level evacuation zone.”
Raveena also revealed the broader emotions that influenced her track: “Even larger than climate grief, this song contemplates the feeling of wanting to hold onto one more beautiful sunset, one more passionate embrace, before things change again and hard times strike.”
In addition to the song’s release, Raveena is gearing up for the deluxe version of her album Where the Butterflies Go in the Rain, due on February 28. She’s also teasing a special music video for Sun Don’t Leave Me, filmed in South Africa.
Raveena will join artists like Kehlani, RINI, and Jenevieve this Sunday, February 23, at the PLUS63 Festival Manila at the Aseana City Concert Grounds.
