Lady Gaga, Shane Gillis, and Tate McRae are set to appear on Saturday Night Live in March!
The sketch comedy show revealed the star-studded lineup for its upcoming episodes. Gillis will host the March 1 show with McRae as the musical guest, marking her debut on the iconic stage. Meanwhile, Lady Gaga will take on both hosting and performing duties on March 8, the day after the release of her new album, Mayhem.
This will be Lady Gaga’s second time hosting SNL and her fifth appearance as a musical guest. Shane Gillis is returning for his second hosting stint, having previously hosted in February 2024. Tate McRae made her SNL debut in November 2023.
Gillis has had a complicated history with the show. In 2019, he was briefly cast as a new member of the SNL team but was fired days later after videos of him using racial slurs resurfaced. The incident sparked controversy, and he was let go before he had even started.
In 2024, SNL creator Lorne Michaels spoke out about the incident, saying that the backlash was overblown. He explained that Gillis was unfairly judged for past actions and that the situation became “too serious.” Michaels defended Gillis, praising his humor and talent, and later admitted that the comedian would have been a great fit for the show.
When Gillis returned to host, he acknowledged his firing, joking that fans should not Google his past and that he was better suited for other careers, like coaching high school football.
Lady Gaga, who first hosted SNL in 2013, made her return to the show at the 50th-anniversary celebration, where she performed alongside Andy Samberg in a memorable performance at Radio City Music Hall.
