In a heartfelt interview with Interview magazine, Selena Gomez and her fiancé, Benny Blanco, opened up about their relationship and engagement. The couple shared the story of how they met and gave fans a glimpse of their engagement ring.
When asked for relationship advice, Gomez, 32, humbly admitted that she didn’t have “life figured out” but emphasized the significance of how Blanco, 36, treats her. “I feel valued. I feel seen. I feel respected. And I think that’s all I’ve ever really wanted,” she explained.
Gomez reflected on the five years she spent on her own before meeting Blanco, saying that time helped her appreciate the love she now shares with him. “I’ve kind of been alone in the world. I was alone for five years before we got together, and I think that really helped me appreciate someone like Ben,” she shared.
Despite their deep connection now, Gomez revealed that 10 years ago, she wasn’t in a place to accept the kind of love Blanco offers her today. “I wasn’t in a space in my life where I could have accepted the kind of patience, the kind of unconditional love that he gives me,” she admitted.
In November 2024, Gomez publicly praised Blanco’s unconditional love on Instagram, joking about his dedication to fulfilling her cravings. “Not only do you love me unconditionally… You always get me my Taco Bell Mexican pizza,” she wrote alongside a photo of Blanco in PEOPLE’s Sexiest Man Alive interview.
Blanco, in his own interview, emphasized the importance of listening to your partner and finding your best friend in a relationship. “Find your best friend and don’t settle,” he advised, adding with a smile, “Happy wife, happy life.”
Gomez and Blanco, who first met in 2013 through Gomez’s mom Mandy Teefey, began dating in 2023 and announced their engagement in December 2024. They’ve also surprised fans with a new musical collaboration, set to release their debut album I Said I Love You First on March 21, 2025, with the first song, “Scared of Loving You,” already available to stream.
As for their first Valentine’s Day as an engaged couple, Blanco didn’t shy away from going big, surprising Gomez with a bathtub full of queso cheese. The creative gesture, complete with a trail of tortilla chips leading to the cheese-filled tub, showcased Blanco’s playful side. “When your [fiancée] isn’t much of a flowers girl,” Blanco captioned the Instagram post, to which Gomez responded, “I love everything about this.”
