In a rare public appearance, Rihanna, along with her two young sons, RZA and Riot, attended the Los Angeles court on February 13 to support A$AP Rocky as his gun trial nears its conclusion. The family was present at the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center during the prosecution’s opening statements.
Rihanna, dressed in a stylish gray raincoat, arrived with the toddlers, who remained well-behaved throughout the proceedings. Accompanied by an older woman, they quietly entered the courtroom just minutes after the trial commenced.
During a break in the trial, Rihanna and A$AP Rocky were seen in the hallway together with their sons. After a brief moment of family interaction, where Rocky handed one son back to Rihanna, she encouraged her children to wish their father good luck before exiting through a back door. Following the break, Rihanna returned to the courtroom alone.
This appearance marked the first time their children joined Rihanna in court to support Rocky, who has faced legal challenges since he was accused of firing a semi-automatic handgun at his former friend, Terell Ephron, known as A$AP Relli, during an altercation in November 2021. The prosecution alleges that Rocky shot at Relli twice during a heated discussion.
A$AP Rocky was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport in April 2022 and subsequently released on bail. Relli filed a civil lawsuit against Rocky later that year, citing assault and emotional distress—claims that Rocky has denied.
As the trial progressed, A$AP Rocky declined a plea deal in January 2024 for one of two felony assault charges. The judge determined sufficient evidence existed for him to stand trial. With closing arguments beginning on February 13, if found guilty, Rocky could face up to 24 years in prison.
