Blake Shelton Kicks Off Las Vegas Residency, Jokes About Gwen Stefani’s Past Show

by Coco

Blake Shelton made his Las Vegas residency debut on Feb. 5 at Caesars Palace’s Colosseum, thrilling the crowd with a set packed with his hits and some fun banter. He kicked things off with “Pour Me a Drink,” his collaboration with Post Malone, telling the 4,300 fans, “This is a big deal for me. This is the first night of my very first residency anywhere.”

Shelton, known for his easygoing style, sipped from a plastic cup while performing fan favorites like “Austin,” “Some Beach,” and “Home.” He also kept the audience laughing, particularly when he spotted a fan’s t-shirt reading, “Still not a Swiftie. I’m a Sheltie,” quipping, “Taylor Swift’s gonna have me killed.”

A special moment came when Shelton’s wife, Gwen Stefani, joined him on screen in a prerecorded duet, as the couple harmonized on stage. Despite the star-studded Vegas atmosphere, Shelton kept things simple, saying, “There’s some kind of added pressure when you do Las Vegas… like everybody is waiting for the trapeze people or some dancers to come down.”

As the night came to a close, Shelton reflected, “This is too much fun to be work,” expressing his gratitude for the audience’s energy.

In a playful nod to Stefani’s extensive Vegas residency, Shelton joked with the crowd, admitting she doesn’t want him to call his six-show run a “residency.” “I don’t want to wear out my welcome,” he added. Shelton will take the stage again on Feb. 7, 8, 12, 14, and 15 for his six-show residency.
