Ariana Grande isn’t stepping away from music for good, but she’s putting touring on hold for the moment. In a candid interview with Variety on December 17, the Wicked star explained that while music will always be part of her identity, her focus is currently on acting.
“I’m so grateful to acting, and I think my fans understand that music and performing will always be a part of my life,” Grande, 31, shared. “But I don’t see a tour in the immediate future. The next few years are about exploring different forms of art, and right now, acting feels like home.”
Though her upcoming album Eternal Sunshine might have suggested the possibility of a tour, Grande is prioritizing her role as Glinda in Wicked 2: For Good, slated for release in 2025. “We’re growing together on this journey with Wicked,” she added, “but music isn’t going anywhere.”
Grande’s dedication to her fans was clear when she addressed the rumors surrounding a 2025 tour. Despite confusion caused by Ticketmaster’s listing of events tied to her name, her label, Republic Records, quickly clarified that there are no official tour plans for next year.
The star also shared a light-hearted moment, saying, “I’ll perform at my mother’s house,” before going on to express her appreciation for the ongoing support of her fans.
In a prior interview on the Shut Up Evan podcast, Grande teased the possibility of performing in between the Wicked films. “It could be lovely to sneak in a few shows,” she mused in July, adding that she envisioned a version of a tour fitting around her acting schedule.
It’s been five years since Ariana Grande embarked on her Sweetener World Tour, supporting her 2018 album Sweetener and 2019’s thank u, next. Fans are still awaiting her return to the stage, but for now, Grande seems content in her role as one of Hollywood’s most promising actresses.
