Born in Chicago in 1979, Bryar became an integral part of My Chemical Romance after joining the band in 2004, shortly after the release of their acclaimed album *Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge*. He replaced original drummer Matt Pelissier and quickly established himself within the group. Prior to joining MCR, Bryar studied sound engineering at the University of Florida and gained experience working as a sound engineer for bands like Thrice and The Used. His friendship with MCR blossomed during their tour with The Used in 2004, leading to his eventual recruitment.
Throughout his time with My Chemical Romance, Bryar contributed significantly to their landmark album The Black Parade, which was released in 2006 and is often hailed as one of the defining records of the emo genre. He also worked on material for their 2010 album Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys before parting ways with the band.
