As Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour heads toward its grand finale, the “Cruel Summer” singer has reflected on her emotional final stops, including her six unforgettable shows in Toronto. The Canadian city, the penultimate destination on the tour, gave Swift a moment to soak in the love and generosity of her fans, as she shared in an Instagram post on November 26.
“It was incredible to play in Canada again after so much time away,” Swift, 34, wrote to her followers. “As always, the fans in Toronto made us feel like we were playing a hometown show. Couldn’t have asked for more love or generosity from the people who came out.”
Among the cheering crowd were some special faces, including Swift’s mom Andrea, her brother Austin, actress Mariska Hargitay, Zooey Deschanel, Jonathan Scott, and, of course, her boyfriend Travis Kelce‘s father, Ed.
Swift’s Toronto shows were not just a chance for fans to hear their favorite hits but also a chance to see the singer share the stage with her tour opener, Gracie Abrams. The two joined forces for a breathtaking mashup of the Grammy-nominated song “us” with Swift’s own hit “Out of the Woods”. Swift praised Abrams, 25, for her incredible performances throughout the tour, writing, “Gracie has been giving the most amazing performances every night!”
Abrams, who has opened for Swift at several recent stops, including Miami, New Orleans, and Indianapolis, will continue on with the tour and join Swift for the final shows in Vancouver next month.
But as the tour nears its end, the emotions have been running high for Swift. “The emotions have gotten pretty heightened for me and the rest of the team because it’s gotten extremely real for us,” she shared with her followers. “Our next city will be the last one of The Eras Tour, and the closing of the most extraordinary chapter of my life so far.”
Swift, known for her raw emotion during performances, appeared especially touched during her November 23 concert in Toronto, fighting back tears after a standing ovation following her rendition of evermore ballad “Champagne Problems.”
“Toronto, we’re at the very end of this tour, so you doing that… you have no idea how much it means to me,” Swift said, momentarily losing her words as she wiped away tears. “It’s not even the last show!” she added with a smile, before joking, “My band, my crew, all of my fellow performers, we have put so much of our lives into this. And you’ve put so much of your lives into being with us tonight and giving us a moment that we will never forget.”
The emotional night continued with some surprise songs, including “Sparks Fly” and “Message in a Bottle”, both played on the guitar, and the poignant ballads “You’re Losing Me” and “How Did It End?” on the piano.
As the Eras Tour draws to a close, Swift will give her final performances in Vancouver, with shows at BC Place from December 6-8, marking the end of a truly record-breaking journey. And while the end is in sight, Swift’s connection with her fans remains stronger than ever, as she promises to give it everything she’s got for three more unforgettable shows.
