Ink & Friendship: Ariana Grande & Cynthia Erivo Reveal Matching Tattoos From Wicked

Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo are forever linked “For Good”—and now, they have the tattoos to prove it! During a recent interview on SiriusXM Hits 1 LA, the stars of the upcoming film adaptation of Wicked shared their exciting news about matching tattoos that commemorate their time together on the production.

On November 12, Grande and Erivo revealed that they have several matching tattoos, including the phrase “For Good” inked on their palms, a heartfelt nod to one of the musical’s most beloved duets. Grande, who portrays Glinda, teased that while some of their ink is public knowledge, other designs remain a delightful secret. Erivo, who plays Elphaba, elaborated on their shared designs, saying, “We have our poppies,” referencing the iconic flowers that play a significant role in both Wicked and The Wizard of Oz.

Their tattoo journey began earlier this year when they first shared glimpses of their matching poppy tattoos on Instagram. Grande also revealed her unique tribute to her character by getting a tattoo inspired by Glinda from L. Frank Baum’s original 1901 book. Meanwhile, Erivo has inked Elphaba’s poignant line: “Maybe some of us are just different.”

Reflecting on the experience of getting inked together, Grande recalled a moment of uncertainty: “Hope they like it,” she said, while Erivo humorously added, “It is what it is. It’s here.” Their director, Jon M. Chu, aptly described them as “hardcore” for embracing multiple tattoos related to their roles.

The bond between these two talented actresses extends beyond just ink; they have formed a deep friendship throughout their time working together. In their interview, they shared how FaceTime has kept their connection strong since wrapping production. Erivo joked about their five-hour conversations, while Grande chimed in that she often calls to keep her company during nail sessions.

As excitement builds for the release of Wicked, set to hit theaters on November 27, 2024, fans can look forward to both the film and the enduring friendship between its stars—now forever marked in ink!
