In a vibrant celebration of the New York Mets’ postseason success, rapper Pitbull is set to release a remix of second baseman José Iglesias’ hit song “OMG.” The highly anticipated track drops on Friday, October 11, as fans rally behind the team’s advancement to the National League Championship Series.
The remix also features Colombian artist Silvestre Dangond, adding to the excitement surrounding the collaboration. Iglesias, who moonlights as a musician under the stage name Candelita, initially launched “OMG” in June. He performed it live at Citi Field, where it quickly became the unofficial anthem for Mets fans, sparking a wave of merchandise and fan signs bearing the song’s title during games.
The song debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Latin Digital Song Sales chart, marking a significant milestone for Iglesias. According to Mets play-by-play announcer Evan Stockton, Iglesias first shared the infectious tune with his teammates in the clubhouse back in April.
“It’s a blessing, it’s a dream come true,” Iglesias expressed during a recent appearance on the Diggin’ Deep Podcast, reflecting on the excitement of having Pitbull join the remix. He shared that the Mets reached out to Pitbull’s management, and the superstar immediately connected with the track. “The next day, we got the track down,” Iglesias said, highlighting the privilege of collaborating with both Pitbull and Dangond.
Following their triumphant 4-1 victory against the Philadelphia Phillies, the Mets celebrated their playoff advancement in the clubhouse, dancing and singing along to Iglesias’ hit. A post from Fox Sports captured the festive atmosphere, stating, “A @Mets celebration wouldn’t be complete without the whole team singing OMG.”
Fans at Citi Field joined in on the revelry, proudly waving “OMG” signs in support of their team. Mets owner Steve Cohen was even spotted holding a sign emblazoned with the title of Iglesias’ infectious anthem. With the remix set to drop, the Mets’ spirit and camaraderie continue to soar as they pursue World Series glory.
