Guy Gansert Addresses Ex-Wife’s past Restraining Order on ‘bachelorette’ Tour

Guy Gansert, a contestant on The Golden Bachelorette, has publicly addressed a resurfaced 2021 temporary protective order filed against him by his ex-wife, Heidi O’Gara. The order was sought in October 2021 in Reno, Nevada, but was dismissed just a month later before any court action was taken.

In an Instagram statement on October 10, Gansert, 55, expressed his feelings about the situation, stating, “This was an unfortunate situation that occurred during an incredibly stressful time for me and my former spouse.” He emphasized that the issue was resolved amicably, noting, “Together we crafted a resolution that was agreeable to both parties.”

Gansert further explained that he and O’Gara recently requested the court to seal the records of the protective order to protect their family’s privacy. “My ex-wife and I were married for 34 years and during that time raised four wonderful children,” he added, highlighting their shared commitment to their family. “They are my greatest accomplishment.”

He acknowledged the emotional toll of the divorce, stating, “My divorce was extremely difficult for me and led me to a very low point in my life and as a result, I acted in a way that does not represent who I am.” He expressed gratitude for the support he has received from The Golden Bachelorette, Bachelor Nation, and his family during challenging times.

In her 2021 motion for the protective order, O’Gara described a series of troubling interactions with Gansert, including allegations of erratic behavior and physical threats. She claimed that, after an encounter at a gym, Gansert threatened her and exhibited unstable behavior. However, on November 3, 2021, O’Gara filed a motion to dismiss the order, which the judge granted.

A statement from O’Gara’s attorney reflects the couple’s commitment to privacy: “While our divorce was very difficult, to protect our family’s privacy and to move forward, we reached a mutual resolution and have chosen not to comment about it publicly.”

While ABC has not commented on the situation, a source close to The Golden Bachelorette revealed that Gansert disclosed the protective order during the vetting process, clarifying that it was never granted as O’Gara voluntarily dismissed it shortly after filing. Consequently, he was cleared to proceed with the casting process.
