Peacock’s ‘The Office’ Spinoff Expands Cast with Four New Additions

by Coco

Peacock’s anticipated spinoff of The Office is adding fresh faces to its ensemble. Alex Edelman, Tim Key, Gbemisola Ikumelo, and Eric Rahill will join the mockumentary series, as announced by Peacock on October 10. Alongside their on-screen roles, Ikumelo, Edelman, and Rahill will also contribute as writers, echoing the multi-role contributions of B.J. Novak, Mindy Kaling, and Paul Lieberstein in the original series.

The spinoff was first revealed in May, with Greg Daniels—who adapted the British The Office—and Michael Koman at the helm. Domhnall Gleeson and Sabrina Impacciatore were confirmed as leads, joined by Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, and Ramona Young.

Steve Carell, who starred as Michael Scott in the original, stated he won’t appear in the new project, though he expressed enthusiasm for the concept, which reportedly centers on a struggling newspaper company. John Krasinski, who played Jim Halpert, similarly confirmed he hadn’t been approached to reprise his role but voiced confidence in Gleeson’s talent and praised the creative team.

In a lighthearted moment, Mindy Kaling, who portrayed Kelly Kapoor, advised the new cast to “try not to laugh,” recalling how she often broke character on set. With many of the original show’s writers involved, The Office spinoff is expected to bring a fresh yet familiar humor to fans.
