Scott Reeves Returns to General Hospital After 11-Year Hiatus: “It’s Like Coming Home”

Scott Reeves is set to reprise his role as Steven Webber on General Hospital, marking his return to the iconic soap opera after more than a decade away. Starting October 24, fans will see Reeves back in Port Charles, a place he fondly describes as “coming home.”

In an interview with TV Insider on October 9, Reeves reflected on his emotional journey back to the show, which he originally left in 2013. “It was like coming home,” he said. “Driving up to Prospect Studios and going through the guard gate felt surreal. I couldn’t help but think, ‘Wasn’t it just a week ago that I left?’”

Reeves was welcomed back warmly by castmate Rick Hearst, known for his role as Ric Lansing. “I was walking through the parking lot when I heard someone call out, ‘Scotty Reeves!’ It was Rick, and I felt like I was back in the old days,” he recalled. The two actors have maintained a close friendship over the years.

Revisiting Steven Webber, who has been out of prison for a few months and is attempting to start anew in Sedona, Arizona, felt natural for Reeves. “It was like riding a bike,” he said, noting that his character lost his medical license after killing a patient in a coma to save a child but felt justified in his actions.

Working with Alley Mills, who portrays his mother Heather Webber, was a delight, while scenes with Rebecca Herbst, who plays his sister Elizabeth Webber, felt like a family reunion. “Alley is hilarious and plays her role to perfection. Becky and I have a close relationship outside of GH; she’s truly like my younger sister,” Reeves shared.

During his time away from the show, Reeves spent time with longtime friend Steve Burton, who returned to General Hospital in March. The two reminisced about their history since first meeting on Days of Our Lives in 1998, discussing potential reunions for their band, Port Chuck.

Stepping back onto the set has reignited Reeves’ passion for the show. “It felt like putting on a really comfortable pair of jeans,” he explained. “Working with everyone again was so comforting, and I’m open to returning in the future. There’s so much potential for Steven, and I’d love to come back whenever they want me.”
