Love Island USA Star Hannah Smith Arrested on Felony Charges After Altercation with Police

by Coco

Hannah Smith, a contestant from Season 6 of Love Island USA, was arrested on two felony charges following an incident involving law enforcement on September 30. The Charlotte native faces allegations of making terroristic threats and willfully obstructing a police officer after reportedly threatening an officer and attempting to strike them during a concert in Atlanta.

According to police reports obtained by TMZ and The U.S. Sun, Smith was removed from the concert venue for disorderly conduct. As a police officer tried to assist her into an Uber, Smith allegedly attempted to punch the officer but did not make contact. The officer proceeded to arrest her, during which Smith reportedly kicked at the officer while handcuffed.

While being transported to jail, Smith allegedly made multiple threats to kill the officer and the officer’s sister. She was booked around 11:45 p.m. local time and held on an $8,000 bond, but has since been released.

Smith has been charged with willful obstruction of a law enforcement officer and making terroristic threats. The Cobb County Police Department did not immediately respond to requests for comment, and a representative for Smith declined to provide a statement.

Following her arrest, Smith has returned to social media, sharing various photos and videos on Instagram and TikTok, without mentioning the incident.

During her time on Love Island USA, Smith quickly became a fan favorite despite her short stay. She formed connections with contestants Kendall Washington and Hakeem White, but her attempt to pursue a romance with Miguel Harichi ended when he chose to couple up with Olivia “Liv” Walker instead. This led to Smith becoming the first day-one girl to be eliminated from the island.

In a June interview with Today, Smith reflected on her experience, expressing surprise at Harichi’s choice. “I was very shocked that he did choose Liv, like she was shocked herself,” she shared. Despite her early exit, Smith spoke positively about her time with Washington, stating, “I can honestly say Kendall is a great guy. He is so genuine.”

Love Island USA is currently streaming in full on Peacock.
