Original Cast of The Addams Family Reunites for Spooky Season Celebration

In a thrilling nod to nostalgia just in time for Halloween, five members of the iconic cast from the 1991 film The Addams Family reunited over the weekend for a special event at Los Angeles Comic Con.

Christopher Lloyd, who famously portrayed Uncle Fester, shared a heartfelt group photo on social media platform X, capturing the reunion of his castmates: Anjelica Huston (Morticia Addams), Christina Ricci (Wednesday Addams), Jimmy Workman (Pugsley Addams), and Carel Struycken (Lurch). “The family that haunts together, stays together…💀🖤,” Lloyd captioned the nostalgic snapshot.

This gathering marked the first occasion that the cast has reunited for a fan event since the film’s release. During the panel, the actors took a moment to honor the late Raúl Juliá, who portrayed Gomez Addams and passed away in 1994 at the age of 54 due to complications from a stroke.

Huston reminisced about Juliá’s professionalism, stating, “He was the perfect gentleman. He was always first on set and last to leave. He was incredibly amenable. He’d do anything you asked him to. He was a consummate professional, really great, really fun. He would always sing opera between scenes, keeping us entertained.”

Lloyd echoed her sentiments, describing Juliá as a “very warm person” with a “big, big heart.”

As the panel progressed, the cast reflected on their beloved characters, with Lloyd recalling the original 1964 TV series that featured Jackie Coogan as Uncle Fester. He noted that Coogan’s portrayal was characterized by a mischievous spirit rather than outright malevolence. “He was kind of a prankster. There was this kind of evilness about him, but it was more mischief,” Lloyd explained.

The Addams Family has seen numerous adaptations across film, theater, and television over the years, with the most recent iteration being the hit series Wednesday. In a delightful twist, Christina Ricci made a cameo as a teacher in the show, starring alongside Jenna Ortega as the titular character.

“She doesn’t need anybody’s advice,” Ricci told Digital Spy, praising Ortega’s performance. “She was wonderful in the first season and is such a talented actress, with a great ability to portray Wednesday.”

As fans prepare for another spooky season, the reunion serves as a haunting reminder of the beloved characters that have become an enduring part of pop culture.
