Niecy Nash-Betts recently opened up about her experience filming Grotesquerie alongside NFL star Travis Kelce, revealing a playful dynamic during their rehearsals. In an interview with ETalk shared on TikTok, Nash-Betts joked about their food choices while preparing for scenes, stating, “Anything and everything. Travis is greedy. I’m talking from burgers to pasta. Only one of us ever ate a salad, and that was me.”
The Emmy-winning actress praised Kelce, calling him a “dream” to work with on the Ryan Murphy-produced FX series, where she stars as a small-town detective unraveling a series of disturbing crimes. “He is so charming and comes to work prepared,” Nash-Betts noted, adding that she believes his fans will be “pleasantly surprised” by his performance.
Kelce is making his scripted TV debut in Grotesquerie, and Nash-Betts speculated that he might pursue more acting opportunities in the future. “I feel like yes, you’re going to see him do a lot more,” she said.
Reflecting on their time together, Nash-Betts mentioned her plans to attend a Kansas City Chiefs game with her wife, Jessica Betts. “Now it’s different. At first, it was just like the game, and now it’s like, ‘Oh, there’s my friend Travis. Hey Travis!'” she explained.
The actress also shared that Kelce was well-received by the crew, noting that the men on set were “fangirling” upon meeting him. “He was very open to suggestions and didn’t come in trying to act like he knew everything,” she said, commending his collaborative spirit.
Kelce’s mother, Donna, expressed her belief in her son’s acting potential during the show’s New York City premiere on September 23. “I just think that he thought, ‘If I get an opportunity, I would like to try [acting],’” she remarked. “He’s pretty good at just about anything he does because he’s got a good work ethic, so we’ll see.”
