Julie Chrisley’s 7-Year Sentence Upheld in Atlanta Court, Family Reacts

The Chrisley family is speaking out following a court decision to uphold Julie Chrisley’s 84-month prison sentence, calling it a grave injustice.

Julie, 51, and her husband, Todd Chrisley, 55, were convicted in 2022 on charges of fraud and tax evasion, receiving a combined 19-year sentence. Despite appealing their convictions, Julie’s seven-year sentence was reaffirmed during a resentencing hearing in downtown Atlanta on Sept. 25. Todd continues to serve his 12-year term in a separate federal facility.

Savannah Chrisley, 27, along with her brother Chase and the family’s attorney, Alex Little, addressed the media after the ruling. In a video obtained by Entertainment Tonight, Savannah passionately criticized the court’s decision.

“This is 100 percent an injustice,” Savannah declared. “The judge clearly used my advocacy to discredit our family and perpetuate a broken system.”

She also disputed the judge’s claim that her public statements about her parents’ prison conditions were “not factual,” questioning the depth of the court’s research into the matter.

Savannah emphasized that her fight for justice is not solely for her parents but for the thousands of others facing similar struggles within the prison system. “I will continue to be as loud as possible,” she said. “This advocacy isn’t just for my parents — it’s for everyone affected by a flawed system.”

The family plans to file an appeal against Julie’s sentence within 14 days, continuing their long battle against the legal system.

Attorney Alex Little expressed disappointment with the court’s decision, particularly with the lack of credit given for Julie’s vacated sentence after her appeal. “It’s disheartening,” Little said. “Public confidence in our courts is at stake here. The personal attacks on the Chrisley family were completely uncalled for.”

The Chrisley legal team is now considering their next steps. Little added, “We appreciate the support we’ve received, and we’re evaluating our options moving forward.”

Background on the Case

Julie and Todd Chrisley were found guilty of tax evasion and fraud in 2022. They both began serving their sentences in early 2023, with Julie housed at the Federal Medical Center Lexington in Kentucky and Todd at Federal Prison Camp Pensacola in Florida.

In December 2022, the Chrisleys filed appeals challenging their convictions. In April 2023, Julie won an appeal, and her sentence was vacated in June due to insufficient evidence, but Todd’s sentence was upheld. Despite this legal victory, Julie’s resentencing on Sept. 25 resulted in her original sentence being upheld.

Savannah and her family remain undeterred, with Savannah making it clear that they will continue to fight. “We’re moving forward with the appeal, and we’re not giving up.”

The Chrisleys’ lawyer, Alex Little, confirmed that the next phase of their legal strategy will involve challenging the couple’s convictions based on an illegal search that initiated the case.

Future Legal Moves

While the legal battle continues, the Chrisleys are hopeful that upcoming proceedings will yield more favorable outcomes. “With this step behind us, we can now focus on challenging the convictions,” Little told PEOPLE.

As the family prepares to continue their fight in the court of law, they remain grateful for the outpouring of support from fans and followers.
