Lainey Wilson recently recounted a shocking experience from last year’s concert tour, where an audience member spat on her while she performed. In an interview with Taste of Country Nights on Demand, the Grammy-winning singer shared vivid details of the incident, expressing her disbelief at the act.
“Last year, during our headlining club tour, someone spat on me on stage,” Wilson revealed. “I thought about getting down there and finding out who it was, but I didn’t. I just kept rolling.”
Reflecting on the bizarre encounter, the “Hang Tight Honey” artist pondered, “Why in the world would you buy a ticket and then spit on somebody? There are some mean people in the world, or they could have just been drunk and being silly.”
Wilson described the moment as particularly strange, recalling, “I saw it coming through the air. It was like I made eye contact with the spit before it landed on me.” She humorously added that despite the incident, she continued to perform, singing, “I got a heart like a truck.”
Currently on tour promoting her new album Whirlwind, Wilson has shown resilience in the face of unexpected situations. During her performance at the Faster Horses Music Festival in July, she experienced a wardrobe malfunction when her pants split mid-show. Quick to adapt, she changed into another pair and joked with the audience, “Y’all just about got a real show!”
Despite the mishap, she remained lighthearted about the experience, saying, “You can’t make that up! I’m glad it was y’all that I split my pants wide open in front of.” Following the concert, Wilson posted a humorous video on Instagram, showcasing her jump-squatting in a pair of pants to ensure they wouldn’t rip again. “Adding this into my routine before a show so my britches don’t rip like they did last night at Faster Horses,” she captioned the post.
