Eagles Superfan Injures Knee in Live TV Belly Bump with Jason Kelce: ‘Totally Worth It’

Philadelphia Eagles superfan Ron Dunphy has an unforgettable tale to recount following an exuberant celebration that led to an injury during a live TV broadcast.

On Monday night, Dunphy confirmed via social media that he sustained a knee injury while performing a high-speed belly bump with retired Eagles offensive lineman Jason Kelce. The incident occurred during a pregame celebration before Philadelphia’s matchup with the Atlanta Falcons.

The energetic moment was captured on video and quickly spread across social media. The footage shows Kelce, 36, and Dunphy enthusiastically charging toward each other and colliding belly-first on the ESPN Monday Night Countdown stage. As the crowd roared with approval, Dunphy, clad in a shirtless and backward Eagles cap, stumbled backward and appeared to injure his left knee.

Despite the injury, Dunphy’s spirits remained high. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he remarked, “F— my whole knee up,” when a fan inquired if he had twisted his ankle. He added, “So worth it lmao,” expressing his satisfaction with the event despite the pain.

Dunphy humorously added, “Say what you want. Yeah, I got hurt doing a chest bump. But I got higher than Kelce.”

Kelce, who retired from the NFL after last season, made his debut in the announcer’s booth for ESPN’s Monday Night Football the previous week. He returned for this week’s game, joining Joe Buck and Troy Aikman in the third quarter.

Before his return to Philadelphia, where he spent his entire 13-year career, Kelce participated in pregame festivities, including dancing on stage and engaging with fans. His energetic dance moves, featuring a high-octane performance in a green tracksuit to a techno remix of “MILLION DOLLAR BABY” by Tommy Richman, quickly went viral.

As Kelce settles into his new role in the broadcast booth, his wife, Kylie Kelce, shared a touching Instagram photo of their family, reflecting on the changes this season. She captioned the image, “Training camp looked a little different this year. Watching you at the Linc on Monday is going to be a little different too. Just know that the girls and I are loving cheering you on in this new chapter!”
