PEOPLE has confirmed that Lifetime is developing a holiday movie based on the beloved soap opera All My Children, set in the iconic fictional town of Pine Valley. The project is still in the early stages of development, with no production dates announced yet.
The movie aims to capture the charm of the original series, which aired from 1970 to 2011. While it remains uncertain whether any of the original cast members will reprise their roles, there has been previous interest from the show’s alumni in returning to Pine Valley.
In February 2020, a spinoff series titled Pine Valley was announced, with Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, both former stars of All My Children, set to executive produce. Ripa, who played Hayley Vaughan from 1990 to 2002, and Consuelos, who portrayed Mateo Santos Sr. from 1995 to 2002, both appeared in the series’ 40th-anniversary episodes in 2010. Their on-screen romance led to a real-life marriage in 1996, and the couple now hosts Live with Kelly and Mark together.
Susan Lucci, who played the iconic Erica Kane, had previously indicated that the spinoff’s development faced delays due to COVID-19. In February 2022, Lucci expressed optimism about the project’s progress. “There has been movement,” she noted, “I wish it was a quicker movement, but everything seems to be in the right hands.”
Lucci, who appeared throughout the original series, hinted at her character’s potential evolution. “With Erica, you never knew what she was going to say or do, and that made her really fun to watch,” Lucci said. “She was full of spirit, and people identified with that spirit very much. I think the same qualities that made her compelling before would still resonate now.”
The revival of All My Children as a holiday movie brings a sense of nostalgia for fans and a fresh opportunity to revisit the drama and excitement of Pine Valley.
