In a recent interview, Sabrina Carpenter extolled the virtues of her close friend Taylor Swift, describing the Grammy-winning artist as a “rockstar” and a “gangster” in her approach to her career and personal life. Carpenter, who has long admired Swift, reflected on their evolving friendship and the profound impact of opening for Swift during the Eras Tour.
Carpenter, speaking to Variety, recounted her experience as Swift’s opening act as a “dream come true” and highlighted the warmth and acceptance she felt from Swift. “That was just some chapter of my life that I truly, truly will never forget. I’ve never felt so welcomed before,” Carpenter said.
The singer further praised Swift, stating, “Well, Taylor is a rock star! She’s just such a gangster with all of it. No matter what people are saying, everything that I’ve ever seen her tackle, she’s done so with grace.” Carpenter also addressed rumors surrounding her collaboration with Kim Kardashian’s Skims campaign, clarifying that Swift was fully supportive of her involvement.
Contrary to speculation that Carpenter needed Swift’s approval for the project, Carpenter emphasized their close friendship. “The posts about me having to ‘ask for her permission’ — no. She’s one of my best, best friends, and we grab dinner or text and catch up like you would with your best friend,” Carpenter explained.
Additionally, Carpenter acknowledged the mentorship she has received from Swift, noting how invaluable it has been for her personal and professional growth. “It’s so cool for me to get a perspective on this whole process from her and the community of artists that I feel I’m close to,” she said.
This is not the first time Carpenter has expressed her admiration for Swift. In a previous interview with Rolling Stone, Carpenter reaffirmed her unwavering support for Swift and addressed online rumors about her involvement with Kardashian’s brand, stating, “I just love her so much and support her till the end. So it was no weirdness for me, but I know people will just say things because that’s all they have time to do.”
