In a recent appearance on the Flagrant podcast with Andrew Schulz, Lil Yachty revealed that Drake remained “genuinely unfazed” by the ongoing feud with Kendrick Lamar. Yachty, who has cultivated a close relationship with the Toronto rapper, shared insights into how Drake has handled the controversy.
According to Yachty, Drake’s demeanor throughout the feud was unshaken. “He’s still that guy. They both are. What’s going to change? They both will continue doing their thing,” Yachty commented. He noted that Drake appeared unaffected by the public discourse, stating, “I talked to him and that sh– didn’t bother him. As it shouldn’t—he’s the f—ing guy. If I had $700 million, you couldn’t talk to me either.”
Despite their close bond, Yachty was in Europe while the feud with Kendrick escalated and admitted that he never saw Drake distressed. “I never saw him down. I never saw him kicking his f—ing foot holding his head down, to the point where I stopped talking to him about it because I felt like I was the one bringing him the negativity,” Yachty reflected. He realized that his attempts to discuss the feud were only adding to Drake’s stress, leading him to stop bringing up the topic.
The conversation also touched upon the perception that some hip-hop fans seem “energized about the elimination of Drake,” a sentiment Kanye West voiced in April. Yachty speculated that Drake fatigue might be a factor, suggesting that some fans are growing tired of his sustained dominance in the rap scene. “I think people just hate on Drake because he’s the guy,” Yachty explained. “It’s also because he f—ed everyone’s b—h. He’s also that guy, though. All the records, all the numbers. He’s the one.”
Yachty expressed regret about his involvement in discussing the feud, admitting, “I just wish I had never spoken on it.”
