In a revealing interview with Rolling Stone on Thursday, July 25, rapper Ice Spice addressed speculation and skepticism surrounding her friendship with Taylor Swift. The 24-year-old artist, whose real name is Isis Naija Gaston, firmly denied claims that Swift, 34, is leveraging their relationship for publicity.
“It’s so rude to me, because why wouldn’t she want to be my friend?” Spice remarked. “Taylor genuinely likes me. She’s incredibly funny, and our personalities align perfectly.”
Spice reaffirmed her bond with Swift, describing the pop star as her “closest celebrity friend.” Their collaboration on the remix of Swift’s song “Karma” in 2023 was a commercial success, reaching number two on the Billboard Hot 100.
Swift has consistently shown admiration for Spice since their joint project. In the same Rolling Stone interview, Swift praised Spice’s astute business acumen, stating, “I love meeting new artists who are interested not just in music but in the music industry as a whole.”
Swift added, “Watching Ice engage with the strategic, financial, and business sides of her career is truly exciting for me.”
