Mark Henry’s debut at AEW’s Double Or Nothing pay-per-view in 2021 garnered significant attention, but many felt his role within the company was limited. After departing AEW, Henry has now opened up about feeling a sense of abandonment.
Henry, known as “The World’s Strongest Man,” confirmed that he would not be renewing his contract with AEW. His unexpected appearance at MLW’s Battle Riot VI event further surprised fans.
In an interview with Forbes, Henry reflected on his time at AEW and discussed the most disappointing aspect of his tenure. He expressed a strong desire to have mentored more talent backstage and revealed his feelings of abandonment upon leaving the company.
“My least favorite part, maybe, was that I didn’t get to finish with all the people I was helping,” Henry said. “I felt a sense of abandonment when I left. There are still people I mentor and talk to every day, but there are some I started with and didn’t finish with. It just kills me not to have an impact on their lives.”
Henry also addressed whether he had any issues with WWE for joining AEW. Despite his departure, he remains open to the possibility of returning to WWE, where he is a Hall of Famer.
