In a recent interview with People magazine, Meagan Good candidly discussed her relationship with actor Jonathan Majors, revealing how he tried to shield her from public scrutiny amidst his legal challenges.
The ‘Harlem’ star recounted an incident where their relationship was exposed to the public eye after being spotted together at a movie. Despite concerns about public perception, Good affirmed her decision not to conceal their relationship, stating, “People have a perception of you that’s not true. A perception of who you date that’s not true.”
Good further disclosed that Majors initially attempted to dissuade her from continuing their relationship, expressing a desire to protect her from the attention it could attract. However, she remained steadfast, emphasizing her resilience and experience navigating the complexities of the entertainment industry.
“I grew up in this industry. The things that I’ve been through gave me the bandwidth to love other people, regardless,” Good remarked. “So when we got together it was like, this is going to be a lot, but you got the right one.”
Their romance became public knowledge in May 2023, when TMZ reported on their date at Alamo Drafthouse. However, later that year, Majors faced legal troubles and was convicted of reckless assault and harassment in December. This followed allegations from his ex-partner, Grace Jabbari, who testified to experiencing physical harm during a domestic dispute.
Despite the legal proceedings and subsequent media scrutiny, Majors maintained his innocence against accusations of abuse made by other women interviewed by The New York Times. His legal team described the relationships as “toxic” but denied any claims of physical or emotional abuse.
