Ayesha Curry is embracing her role as a new mother once again.
On Monday, July 1, the 35-year-old Sweet July founder shared a touching video of her newborn son, Caius Chai, on her Instagram Stories. In the brief clip, Ayesha’s hands gently caress Caius’ leg while his tiny foot rests on her. “The sweetest Chai,” she lovingly captioned the video.
Ayesha and her husband, NBA star Stephen Curry, welcomed Caius in May. The couple announced his early arrival with a heartfelt joint Instagram post, expressing their joy. “Our sweet baby boy decided to make an early arrival!!” they wrote alongside a photo of Caius’ hand being held. “He’s doing great and we are finally settling in at home as a family of 6! So grateful!”
The Currys, who married in 2011, are also parents to daughters Riley, 11, and Ryan, 8, and son Canon, 5.
Earlier this year, Ayesha opened up about her pregnancy experience in an essay for her Sweet July magazine. At 35, she was told her pregnancy was considered “geriatric,” a term she found unsettling. “I think there’s something that needs to be more nuanced when it comes to women, their age, and conversations around having children,” she wrote. “Many women in their 30s and 40s are going through this for the first time, and being told you’re ‘old’ feels alarming and wild. I think the narrative needs to be shifted a little bit.”
Ayesha later revealed that this would be her final pregnancy, noting the newfound appreciation she had for every moment. “One of the biggest differences [of this pregnancy] is a new understanding that this really does pass by in the blink of an eye,” she said. “And in the blink of an eye, it could also all be taken away. That’s encouraged me to slow down and take in every single little thing — especially with it being my last pregnancy.”
The couple first announced Ayesha’s pregnancy with Caius in March, sharing the news in a cover story for Sweet July. They had previously thought their family was complete, but realized last year that “somebody was missing.”
