Tommy James Cuts Las Vegas Concert Short Due To Exhaustion

Tommy James, the legendary singer behind hits like “Mony Mony,” was forced to abruptly end his concert

The 77-year-old singer was performing at the Golden Nugget casino on March 7 when he stopped the show about an hour into his set. According to Carol Ross-Durborow, a representative for James, he halted the performance “due to exhaustion.”

James had a busy day before the concert, catching an early five-hour flight to Las Vegas, followed by a sound check and the performance itself. Ross-Durborow confirmed that he is now back in New Jersey, feeling “fine” and working on his Sirius XM radio show.

James’ Las Vegas performance, which was supposed to last 90 minutes, came to a halt during “Do Something to Me,” just before his signature hit “Mony Mony” and the planned encore. The singer was reportedly breathing heavily and sat down in front of the drums to recover.

Paramedics and casino security attended to James on-site, and he left without incident. Fans at the show expressed their concern, but reports confirmed that the situation was not serious.

James is scheduled to perform next weekend in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and his representative reassured fans that he would be arriving the day before the show, fully rested.

Tommy James, who has had a career spanning decades, has released 12 solo studio albums and numerous hits with his band, Tommy James and the Shondells, including “Crimson and Clover” and “I Think We’re Alone Now.” In 2015, he performed “Crimson and Clover” with Joan Jett & the Blackhearts at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction ceremony. James has often reflected on his career, telling Jersey Sound last year, “I look at my career and I see how I’ve been so blessed in so many different ways.”

Fans can look forward to his upcoming shows, with James continuing to enjoy a long and celebrated career.
