Kate Cassidy, Liam Payne’s girlfriend, became emotional as she reflected on the final moments they shared before his tragic death. In her first interview since the incident, she spoke about her pain and the deep loss she feels.
Liam Payne, the former One Direction singer, tragically died after falling from a balcony at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires on October 16, 2024. He was 31 years old. Over three months later, Kate Cassidy, 25, is still grieving the loss, as she shared in an exclusive interview with The Sun published on February 5, 2025.
The couple had been on vacation in Buenos Aires before his death. Cassidy appeared in several of his final Snapchat videos. She revealed that she wished she had stayed with him rather than returning to their home in Florida.
“I had a responsibility. We had a responsibility. We had our dog, and I never thought something like this could happen,” Cassidy said. The couple had a rescue dog named Nala, who they both loved.
Liam Payne’s death is still hard for Cassidy to accept. “It was a tragic accident,” she told The Sun. “I never thought he would pass away so young.” She also added that although they often traveled separately, she never imagined his death would come the way it did. “It still doesn’t feel real that he’s not here anymore.”
Cassidy said she thinks about Liam every day, and the pain of navigating life without him by her side is overwhelming. “From the moment I met Liam, I believed we were soulmates,” she said. “He was the most humble and kind person you could ever meet, genuinely one of the best people I’ve known.”
The influencer opened up about the challenge of moving forward without Liam. “Knowing that I’ll have to go through life without him is really hard,” she shared. “You don’t think the worst will happen.”
In a post on her Instagram Stories, Cassidy shared her thoughts about the interview, saying it was her first time speaking out since his death. She expressed gratitude for the support from Liam’s fans and hoped her experience would be received with understanding and compassion.
Cassidy had paid tribute to Liam a week after his passing. She shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, describing him as “my best friend, the love of my life.” Her tribute included some of their happiest moments together, with the caption, “I don’t even know where to begin. My heart is shattered in ways I can’t put into words.”
She concluded the post, saying, “I will love you for the rest of my life and beyond, carrying our dreams and memories with me everywhere I go.”
