In the new trailer for the show’s 55th season, Reneé Rapp, the talented Mean Girls star, joins beloved Muppets Elmo, Cookie Monster, and Abby Cadabby for an emotional musical number. “Feelings are real so let them show,” Rapp, 24, sings alongside the Muppets, promoting the importance of expressing emotions. Later, Elmo highlights the therapeutic power of music, emphasizing how it can help when someone “has all kinds of feelings.”
But Rapp is not the only star lending her voice to this season. The lineup also includes musical guests SZA, Samara Joy, Noah Kahan, and Chris Stapleton, alongside a star-studded roster featuring Michael B. Jordan, Billie Jean King, and Jonathan Van Ness.
Fans were thrilled to see Rapp in the trailer, with one person sharing, “reneé rapp on sesame street im sobbing,” and another exclaiming, “Well, now I have big feelings” in response to the emotional clip. It’s clear that Rapp’s appearance has left a lasting impression on fans, and many are eagerly awaiting her musical moments with Elmo and friends.
Elmo himself is excited about the music-filled season. In a statement, he shared how music can teach valuable lessons about timing, harmony, melody, and cultural diversity. “It’s really cool! We’ve got a lot of wonderful people come and do some music with us on ‘Sesame Street,’ like Miss Reneé Rapp and SZA!” he added.
The 55th season of Sesame Street will explore themes of expressing emotions, mindfulness, and building resilience. This new season comes at a time when the show’s future is being discussed, as recent reports indicated Warner Bros. Discovery did not renew the agreement to finance Sesame Street on Max. However, Sesame Street’s iconic legacy will continue, with new distribution plans in the works.
Season 55 of Sesame Street is set to premiere on January 16, with new episodes dropping weekly on Max.
