Drew Taggart of The Chainsmokers is sharing the details of his “romantic” engagement to Brazilian supermodel Marianne Fonseca, and it’s every bit as enchanting as you’d imagine. The couple announced their engagement on Instagram on December 3, with Drew captioning a series of intimate engagement photos, “HELL YEA!! 💍.”
The special moment actually took place two days earlier, on December 1, at Giorgio Baldi, a posh Italian restaurant in Los Angeles. Marianne was under the impression that she was heading to a casual girls’ dinner with her friend Ivanka Trump. But when she arrived, she was surprised to find Drew waiting for her, surrounded by roses. “The first thing I asked was, ‘What are you doing here?'” she recalls with a laugh. “We were both laughing, and it was just so cute!”
Taggart proposed with a five-carat elongated cushion-cut diamond, a ring he had purchased in September. While about 35 of their closest friends and family were invited to the dinner, the proposal itself was a quiet, private moment just between the couple. “Drew knew I wanted it to be just the two of us,” Fonseca explains. “Afterward, everyone arrived, and I already had the ring on. It was so special seeing how happy everyone was for us!”
The couple’s connection goes back to March 2023, when they first met at an Oscars party at talent manager Guy Oseary’s home. They had crossed paths before but never really spoke. At the bar that night, it was Marianne who made the first move, and the chemistry was immediate. “We had such a meaningful conversation about life, goals, and worldviews,” she shares. “That’s what inspired Drew’s song ‘Summertime Friends’ — it’s about that moment we met.”
Marianne later starred in the music video for the track, which captured the spark between them.
Since their engagement, the pair has received heartfelt congratulations from friends, including Alex Pall, Hailey Bieber, Diplo, Calvin Harris, and Paris Hilton. As for the wedding, Marianne says they’re keeping it low-key. “We want it to feel very intimate, with just the people we truly love. I don’t want it to feel like ‘work’ to get married. I want to enjoy it and feel vulnerable with our closest loved ones.”
The couple is already in wedding planning mode and envisions a celebration that reflects their deep bond and shared vision for the future.
