Taylor Swift’s reign at the top of the charts continues to shine in 2024. The 14-time Grammy winner recently claimed the global title of top artist on Amazon Music, while her album The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology was declared the year’s best album. However, she wasn’t able to snag the top song award, which went to Benson Boone for “Beautiful Things.”
But that didn’t stop Swift from making waves on Apple Music. The 34-year-old superstar triumphed as the number-one artist of the year, with her album The Tortured Poets Department also securing the top spot. She even managed to score the fifth position for the most-streamed global songs with her 2019 hit “Cruel Summer” from Lover. Apple Music further celebrated her accomplishments by placing her at the top of the songwriter charts.
On Tuesday, Swift took to Instagram to express her gratitude toward her fans for making all of this possible. Sharing a heartfelt message on her Story, she wrote, “Ahhhhhh thank you for listening to my music and TTPD so much!!!!! You, the fans, made The Tortured Poets Department the TOP STREAMED ALBUM of The Year on @applemusic!!! You guys snagged me that Top Streamed Artist spot too.”
Swift’s chart-topping success comes on the heels of another milestone — being ranked as the second-greatest pop star of the last 25 years by Billboard. Although some fans might have expected her to clinch the top spot, the magazine noted that Swift’s influence is undeniable, regardless of where she ranks. Billboard praised her enduring power in pop culture, adding that her placement reflects her growth and impact in music, especially considering she entered the pop scene later than many of her peers. Beyoncé earned the number-one spot in this prestigious ranking.
Swift’s ability to keep fans and media buzzing also plays into her dominance in the industry. With a legacy that continues to grow, she’s one of the few artists who can command global attention with every move.
This has been an especially packed year for Swift. Not only did she release The Tortured Poets Department, but she’s also been touring the world with her record-breaking Eras Tour, performing in dozens of cities across five continents. Fans were treated to new sets and choreography from the album as part of her surprise performances during the tour. TTPD was added to the setlist in May, much to the delight of Swifties.
In between her hectic schedule, Swift has also made time for her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce. The two have been spotted at his games, with Swift offering her support from the sidelines.
The Eras Tour, which kicked off in March 2023, will come to a close on Sunday, December 8, in Vancouver. But even after the tour wraps, there’s no doubt that Swift’s reign as one of the music industry’s brightest stars will continue to shine.
