It seems like Joe Jonas might have been left hanging by Timothée Chalamet. On Sunday, Dec. 1, the “Waffle House” singer took to TikTok to share a funny update about his attempts to get in touch with the Wonka star—an attempt that’s now been a year in the making.
In the video, Jonas, 35, posted a screenshot of a text he sent to Chalamet in December 2023. The message, sent from a friend’s phone, featured a selfie of Jonas, accompanied by the message, “Last December I sent Timothée Chalamet a text anticipating a response.”
The following slide of Jonas’ TikTok post was another selfie, paired with the message, “This December he still hasn’t texted back. Hope this helps!” His lighthearted lament was accompanied by the song “Thoughts of You” by Ole 60, as Jonas quipped in the caption, “Check back with you guys next December for an update.”
Fans quickly rallied around the “S.O.S.” singer, offering their own humorous takes on the situation. One person wrote, “He’s just thinking of a good response, it’ll come soon enough,” while another chimed in, “I can change my name to [Timothée] and reply you asap .” A third fan shared their solidarity, commenting, “I totally understand how you feel, Joe—I am also waiting on a response from Timothée Chalamet.”
Despite Joe’s playful banter, Chalamet, 28, has had quite a hectic year. In the spring of 2024, he wrapped up filming for A Complete Unknown, a Bob Dylan biopic where he takes on the iconic singer-songwriter’s role. Not long after, he dove into the world of Marty Supreme in New York City alongside Gwyneth Paltrow.
In between promoting Dune 2 and Wonka, Chalamet made time for some relaxation. A source confirmed that in August, he jetted off to the Bahamas to help Kylie Jenner ring in her birthday. And in a particularly fun moment, Chalamet crashed a Timothée Chalamet lookalike contest in Washington Square Park on October 27, only to be outshined by another doppelgänger.
Meanwhile, Joe Jonas is gearing up for his own big moment. He’s preparing to release his highly anticipated solo album, Music for People Who Believe in Love, following the success of singles like “Work It Out” and “What This Could Be.” While the exact release date remains TBD, fans are eager to see what Jonas has in store next.
